When the
summer is coming there are some essential activities to do in the Costa Brava like:
lying on the different beaches, scuba diving in the Mediterranean Sea, eating in its
restaurants, walking its stunning countryside and getting caught up in the
atmosphere of its many festivals.
Summer festivals are really typical in Costa Brava. In
the majority village coast they held some music festival; here there are
some of them:
Festival de Cap Roig- This festival is held in the
Calella de Palafurgell town, the scenery of the festival is really fantastic
because is on the lovely botanical gardens of Cap Roig, overlooking the sea.
This festival is formed by various genres of music and performing arts.
Festival de Porta Ferrada- Is the oldest musical
festival in Catalonia created in 1958. In this festival there are important
actors, dancers and musicians. Its interdisciplinary activities - together
under one umbrella performances of music, theater and dance - makes it possible
to make it unique characteristics. This diversity is supported by performances
of the highest national and international level.
Musiques de Torroella de Montgrí- Classical Music Festival started out in 1981 with a small
number of concerts held in the medieval town center – the Gothic church of
Saint Genís, the portico-ed Gothic-Renaissance Town Square and the late 17th
century former Augustinian monastery.
Castell de Peralada-Since
1987, July and August are synonymous with poetry, dance and international
artists in a privileged environment. The International Music Festival Peralada
Castle offers a unique focus on great voices, choral symphony concerts, operas
and interdisciplinary performances of music, theater, dance, jazz and chamber
music concerts, family and pop music.
During all the summer, in
different villages of the coast line could enjoy listening some Havaneres festival - the singing of sea shanties and also its
typical drinking of burnt rum.
